Urban Science, a Detroit-based global provider of analytical solutions for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their dealers, has partnered with BLIX, a technology provider who has created a platform to accurately measure walk-in traffic and duration times in automotive stores. This partnership is a first for the automotive industry and began in June 2015.

Through its partnership with BLIX, Urban Science will be able to provide OEMs and dealers with insight into customer traffic and behavior during visits to dealer showrooms. The BLIX platform uses sensor technology in each participating dealership to detect anonymous pings emitted from smartphones, and provides accurate data on shopper volumes, dwell times and brand loyalty to gauge performance and maximize conversions.
“We know there are a large number of new vehicle shoppers, approximately 75 percent, who make their initial contact by simply walking into a dealership,” said Simon Bradley, Global Practice Director of Network at Urban Science. “With that in mind, being able to measure and understand customer behavior factors and how they came to visit that particular showroom is crucial to understanding the effectiveness of a dealership’s marketing strategies and ultimately increasing profitable vehicle sales.”
